Fluorite

WE 24-36, July, 2022

Location:

Knappenloch, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

This piece is a feast for the eyes: although intensely colored, this fluorite is nevertheless very transparent - almost glassy. The crystals show a beautiful violet to light lilac color on the outside and a blue on the inside. With LED backlight, the blue color changes to a very pleasing cyan. It is precisely this play of colors consisting of light violet on the outside and a beautiful cyan-blue that makes this fluorite so special! This color arrangement causes the fluorite to change color when moved. The largest fluorite cube measures 4.2 cm across the edge. The crystal surfaces show a fine square texture with a silky luster due to water etching. The crystals are undamaged and the sides show beautiful structures by water etching. This piece is published in The Mineralogical Record - Mineral Magazine Vol.54 No.6.2

Size: 8.8 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm
