Fluorite

WE 24-3, July, 2022

Location:

Knappenloch, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

I felt indescribable joy when I managed to salvage this piece: Despite its intense colors, this fluorite is very transparent - almost glassy. The crystals exhibit a beautiful purple color on the outside and an intense blue to cyan color on the inside. This color composition results in the fluorite  changing color when moved. The fluorite cube measures up to 5.1 cm edge length. With a slightly concave shape, the crystal surfaces show a fine parqueted structure with a silky shine due to water etching. The crystal growth is very plastic and three-dimensional. Just perfect and undamaged! This piece is published in The Mineralogical Record - Mineral Magazine Vol.54 No.6.2.

Size: 7.8 x 7 x 5.8 cm
