Fluorite
WE 24-24, July, 2022
Location:
Knappenloch, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Description:
This piece fascinates me with the play of colors and the dark color dots. Due to the hemispherical crystal growth, the piece is purple on the outside and blue to cyan on the inside. Additional highlights are many dark violet dots distributed over the whole piece. These dark spots of color most likely come from natural local radioactive irradiation. And countless isolated bright grown cockscomb barites crystals beneath the surface of the fluorite. This piece is published in The Mineralogical Record - Mineral Magazine Vol.54 No.6.2.
Size: 12.5 x 11 x 6.8 cm
