Fluorite
WE 24-14, July, 2022
Location:
Knappenloch, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Description:
One of my favorite pieces from this find: The piece shows excellent three-dimensional crystal growth with a dominant fluorite cube in the center. The piece is undamaged and shows great transparency with intense colors and an edge length of up to 5 cm. With their slightly concave shape, the crystal surfaces show a fine parqueted structure and a silky shine, due to water etching. With backlighting this specimen reveals an excellent tipping effect consisting of intense colors from red-violet, blue and cyan to green. This piece is published in The Mineralogical Record - Mineral Magazine Vol.54 No.6.2.
Size: 14.5 x 8.5 x 7.3 cm
