Fluorite

WE 24-2, July, 2022

Location:

Knappenloch, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

"The tree" reminded me of a tree when I found it because of its growth. The fluorite crystals are grown on a narrow vertical calcareous matrix. The fluorite cubes measure up to 4.5 cm edge length. The crystal surfaces show a fine square texture with a silky luster due to water etching. With backlight the crystals show a beautiful violet color on the outside and an intense blue color on the inside. This color composition causes the fluorite to change color as the piece is moved. This piece is published in The Mineralogical Record - Mineral Magazine Vol.54 No.6.2.

Size: 10.5 x 8.5 x 6 cm
