Fluorite with Calcite
WE 20-10, September 2019
Location:
Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

This is the largest specimen from this find. The crystals are strongly dissolved by the influence of water. The square texture is partially preserved, the gloss is matt. The largest crystal measures 6 cm in diameter making it one of the largest crystals found on Weisseck. The snow-white calcite grew like a hood over the fluorite. This specimen also shows several colors under UV light: The outer violet layer of the fluorites fluoresce with the usual violet color and the colorless area become intense red-orange to pink; in between are patches of lilac. The calcite shows a light beige color in UV light.
