Blue Fluorite and Calcite
WE 17-6, 2017
Location:
Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Description:
On several thin quartz slabs, numerous exposed fluorite cubes, about 2 cm in edge length, have grown in combination with light-colored calcite crystals. The surface quality of the fluorites is outstanding: they exhibit a nice luster and a subtle cubic pattern, distinguishing them from most other fluorites from this locality. The excellent surface quality is due to their position, which was protected by water and embedded in clay. The transparency is exceptional – the multiple zoned growth allows one to see deep into the center of the fluorites.
Size: 19 x 12 x 10 cm
