Fluorite and Calcite
WE 9–10, 2013
Location:
Ice Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Description:
Large fluorite specimen in combination with calcite. This piece comes from the large rear cavern in the Ice Cleft. It shows a very intense blue translucent color. The crystal surfaces are slightly curved inwards, high-gloss and show an intensive square texture. The largest crystals measures 4.5 cm at the edges. I was just able to catch this piece in my arms when it detached itself from the ice on the ceiling and fell about 2 meters towards to the floor. “Captured” August 2013. WE 9–12 also comes from this small find.
