Fluorite and Calcite
WE 9–7, 2014
Location:
Ice Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Description:
One of the most beautiful specimens from the Ice Cleft: highly glossy dark purple fluorites with an edge length of up to 2.5 cm, in combination with calcite and a second generation of small fluorites. The crystal surfaces are high-gloss and curve slightly inwards with a parquetted structure. Due to the concave cube shape and the high gloss, the fluorite always sparkles in a different place when moved. This piece comes from the upper area from the large rear cavern in the Ice Cleft. The piece was found in July 2014 - about 22 meters from the entrance.
Size: 32 x 19.5 x 10 cm
