Fluorite, Calcite and Barite

WE 9–43, 2010

Location:

Ice Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

Sometimes you can only marvel at the wonders of nature: this fluorite has grown over a thin quartz plate about 1 mm thick and shows a thin elongated plastic growth. The fluorites are high-gloss with intense, clearly defined zoning on the edges. With backlight the fluorite shows a beautiful intense violet color. A white barite rose with a diameter of 1.5 cm sits in the upper part of the specimen. A single 2.5 cm large calcite scalenohedron in the lower area is an additional attraction. Simply perfect! The piece was found in September 2010 in the front right area of the Ice Cleft. About 3 meters from the entrance.

Size: 16.5 x 6.5 x 6.3 cm
