Fluorite and Calcite

WE 9–40, 2014

Location:

Ice Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

Green, highly lustrous transparent fluorites with a touch of blue. The fluorites growing attractive and three-dimensional on several thin quartz plates. The individual quartz plates are filled with calcite and sinter. A few individual calcites have grown cheekily between the fluorites. The clear fluorites show a multiple, fine zonal structure inside. The piece comes from a small pocket found in the deepest area - about 25 meters from the entrance of the Ice Cleft. Eight pieces were recovered from this pocket - WE 9-41, WE 9-44, WE 9-45, also comes from this find. They were found in August 2014.
