Fluorite and Calcite

WE 9–39, 2013

Location:

Ice Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

Another piece with the unusual, elongated cube habitus - but from a different area of the Ice Cleft. The transparent elongate "cube" up to 10 cm show high-gloss surfaces with a multi-stepped edge structure. A dark phantom on each elongated side is also here a special feature. While the other elongated habitus Fluorites show a green color, the color here is an intense blue. The transparency is excellent and a few individually grown calcites further enrich the piece. This piece was found 9 meters from the entrance. This is exactly the area where it briefly looked in 2013 as if the cleft had ended. It was from the bottom of where it appeared as if the cleft came to an end. Only three specimens were found - and this piece is by far the best.

Size: 15.5 x 11 x 6.8 cm
