Fluorite and Calcite

WE 9–37, 2010

Location:

Ice Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

High-gloss violet fluorite cubes in a druse, with intense, clearly defined zoning on the edges. The outside of the druse is also crystallized with high-gloss dark gray fluorites. The fluorite druse sits attractively on a calcite matrix. The first photo was taken in an area with a backlight spot to show the beautiful intense color of the fluorite. The piece was found in August 2010 about 3 meters deep from the entrance in the right floor area (also WE 9–25, and WE 9–38). Directly below were purplish-gray spherical and kidney-shaped fluorites (WE 9–20).

Size: 12.5 x 6.5 x 6 cm
