Fluorite

Location:

Ice Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

A completely different fluorite from the Ice Cleft and unfortunately only this one piece was found: dark green transparent fluorite with the unusual crystal shape of an octahedron with a small cube faces on one side of the specimen. On the other side the fluorites are crystallized as rhombic dodecahedrons. All crystal surfaces are matt and whitish in places on the surface, which gives the piece a frosty character. This piece comes from the top area of ​​the large rear cavern in the Ice Cleft about 23 meters from the entrance. It was found in August 2014. WE 9-36 also come from this find.
