Fluorite and Calcite

Ice Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Description:
Large fluorite specimen in combination with calcite. This piece comes from the large rear cavern in the Ice Cleft. It shows an intense blue translucent color. The crystal surfaces are slightly curved inwards, high-gloss and show an intensive square texture. I was just able to catch this piece in my arms when it detached itself from the ice on the ceiling and fell about 2 meters towards to the floor. Found August 2013. WE 9–10 also come from this small find. This piece was published in The Mineralogical Record, Eureka Supplement, May-June 2022.
