Fluorite, Calcite and Barite

WE 9–25, 2010

Location:

Ice Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

Another top piece: high-gloss violet fluorite cubes in a druse, with intense, clearly defined zoning on the edges. A white barite rose sits in the lower right part of the specimen. The outside of the druse is also crystallized with light fluorites; the light orange calcites provide a good contrast. The piece was found in August 2010 about 3 meters deep from the entrance in the right floor area (also WE 9–37 and WE 9–38). Directly below were purplish-gray spherical and kidney-shaped fluorites (WE 9–20). This piece was published Supplement to The Mineralogical Record, November-December, 2015 volume 46, number 6.

Size: 13.5 x 13.3 x 6.8 cm
