Fluorite and Barite
WE 9–18, 2010
Location:
Ice Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Description:
Unfortunately, this specimen is also the only one of its kind from the Ice Cleft: transparent, light green fluorite with three-dimensional growth. The partially cuboid-shaped, highly lustrous crystals show a multiple fine-stepped edge growth and yellowish crystal surfaces. The special thing about this piece is the barite roses, which measure up to 1.7 cm in diameter - the barite roses at Weisseck usually measure a maximum of 0.5 cm! This piece comes from about 3 meters deep from the entrance, in the middle area. It was found in September 2010.
Size: 4.5 x 4 x 3.3 cm
