Fluorite

WE 9–16, 2009

Location:

Ice Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

Unfortunately only this one piece could be recovered from another small cavity in the green fluorite vein. The crystals show octahedron-like growth with a small cube face at the top. The surfaces are high-gloss; the fluorites themselves are transparent with a bright green color. In the area of the top small cube surface the color changes to a transparent cyan blue. WE 9-2, WE 9-17, WE 9-35 and WE 9-42 also come from this green fluorite vein, and although they were extracted from different small cavities only a few centimeters from each other, they reveal completely different patterns of crystallization. This piece was found in August 2009 about two meters deep from the entrance.

Size: 13.8 x 12.5 x 5.2 cm
