Quartz and Calcite

DI 2-25, March 2003

Location:

Zederhaus, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

A very unusual piece from this find: there is a main crystal from which smaller crystals grow almost at right angles. The surfaces of these crystals are all around covered with a snowy layer. This layer reaches to the edges of the prisms where it abruptly ends. The tops are highly lustrous and transparent. The crystals are partially covered with a second generation of small quartz crystals. Scattered in between are light-brown, glossy calcite.

Size: 15 x 10 x 6.3 cm
