Fluorite

WE 2-6, 2003, August

Location:

Summit Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

This piece may seem a bit rough at first glance. A closer look reveals a lot of special details. The color changes from yellow-green to blue-green and in between there are purple color areas that have been deposited in zonal patterns. In addition, the piece shows a yellow-brown square zonation just below the surface of the crystals. In transmitted light, the fluorite shows different green, yellow and violet colors. The crystal surface is rough due to water etching. A second generation has grown isolated on the fluorites crystals.

Size: 21 x 21 x 8.5 cm
