Fluorite

WE 2-2, 2003, August

Location:

Summit Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

A rarity from the Summit Cleft: the surfaces of the fluorites have a square structure and also show a colored square zoned structure just below the surface. The blue-green zoning is clearly visible in the outer area of the crystals. A second generation of smaller fluorites has occasionally grown on the piece. The fluorite was etched by water and shows violet color zones in some areas.

Size: 11 x 7 x 5.8 cm
