207 Realgar and Calcite
Shimen Mine, Hunan Province, China
Highly lustrous calcite crystals up to 8 cm long partially covered with bright red, transparent realgar crystals and tufts of white picropharmacolite crystals up to 1 mm long. The lustrous calcite crystals are translucent with a fine striped structur on the faces. Well crystalized all around, the bottom was extracted from the rock. Some of the realgar crystals are incomplete which may be visible, but does not quite draw attention. An extraordinary piece all in all!
