157 Fluorite

Schacht 78, Frohnau, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany

Beautiful transparent highly lustrous fluorite of the interesting German locality „Schacht 78”! As you can see on the photo, the specimen shows a very fine and lively square structure. The inner core of the fluorite displays a yellow-green color, and the outer edges display a mint green coloring. This gorgeous zoning measures up to 1 cm. The edge length of each individual fluorite is up to 5.5 cm and that’s amazing. The specimen is covered with a second generation of transparent and very glossy blue-green fluorites (except on one side face which is the side with the lively square structure). The 2nd generation shows partially a reddish-brown zoning along the edges. The fluorite shows an intense color with backlit! The bright spots on the surface come from barites, which have grown into the fluorite. A truly exceptional piece with very good construction and a fantastic play of color! No visible damage to report.
