236 Magnetite and Quartz
Felbertal, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
A very rare Alpine specimen: magnetite as a rhombendodecahedron. The specimen comes from an interesting find in 2009: For the first time in the Alpine area pieces of magnetite were found as rhombendodecahedron as a cleft mineral (see Lapis No. 9, 2010). Many highly lustrous magnetite crystals are grown on an etched quartz crystal. The magnetite shows partially tempering colors. Very interesting and rare specimen!
