029 Fluorite, Calcite
Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
The specimen was mined directly after the passage of clay. Usually nearly all specimen show strong etching - not so here, the specimen shows an uncommon high quality of the surface. The faces feature satiny luster. The fluorite has a square texture and shows an intense internal translucent color, with zoning along edges. Without backlight the crystals show dark violet color. Light calcite frames the crystal along the top and helps to give a great visual intact and lot of contrast to the piece. Undamaged, the backside was extracted from the rock.
